Some more postcards for the Split show at Candid Arts. Do come along to the private view tonight 6-10pm in Angel.

Night time studio window. Fading dusk, blackbird song, no karaoke.

I can’t work out if these postcard paintings hold the lugubrious heat of the June day just before the sun burns through the morning sea mist, or whether they are just plain ugly. Possibly both. 🤔

Love this ancient hornbeam just above the harbour. It’s like a sentinel overlooking Havelet Bay and the smaller islands.

This small panel is moving forward. It shows a Todt worker, being marched along the roads of Guernsey by a bunch of looming German soldiers. I think it’s got more movement now, but I need to lift the level of warmth in his face a bit still.

A small unfinished painting of my Grandad fishing at Grandes Rocques. Landing bream in suits must’ve been interesting. 🤔

Recently I’ve been dreaming and thinking of an archipelago of islands filled with forests and deep lakes. Spare, cool, tranquil interiors - the opposite of my built up home island where deep woods no longer exist. It’s been wonderful tho
